here we go again

After 2 visits to hospital, the first one last week when they could find nothing wrong!! The second for4 days but came home after  CT scan on wed, we have got the news that Ed now has cancer of the pancreas. What a blow! He had done so well after the original tumour was removed alng with his stomach and splein 20 months ago.

There is no op this time, just chemo so we wait for app with oncologist. It is friday so next week? Then we will wait for treatment to begin. How long? Ed cant eat and has lost 10 lbs waiting for diagnosis. it took a year to gain a stone after op and he has lost over half of that in 10 days. I weep for him. He is only 9 stone now so not much to fight with and loosing daily as he cant eat and struggles to sip drinks.

I know theere are many more in the same boat and I weep for them too. I worry that a 71 year old man is not a priority and even Ed says he has had a good life and time that he didnt think he would get after last op but i want him to have more. Just down right now and want to get on with treatment then hope to have good news. leisha

ED has been really poorly this week. Last weekend when he came out of hospital was not too bad, Got his pain under control and managing a bit of soup or a scrammbled egg but then he got worse each day. By wednesday he couldnt even keep his medication down and sipped about 4 ozs of water all day. Thursday morning I called GP who had him admitted to hospital where they diagnosed blocked bowel and said he needed emergency op. This was not due to the cancer but could be due to previous surgery, or not! 26 hours later he had emergency op which took 3 hours. i had sat with him from 8am till 4.30pm waiting for him to go to theatre as he was very stressed. Staff phoned me to say he was on a high care ward at 10pm but I am to wait to see him till 3pm tomorrow ( visiting time). I dont think so!!!!!! We need a hug and I will be there 8am tomorrow, call security!!! lol. We just held hands for the long wait today and 1 doctor said it wasnt allowed on the NHS and I said then it should be prescribed, we have been together 47 years and a relaxed patient is more likely to do well! The worst thing about this is that today was Eds appointment with the oncologist about his pancreatic cancer but now he has to wait around 2 months before considering chemo for that. How much damage will that do to his battle?
