Well the day has dawned, my 1st 10k and the nerves are terrible. Just wish there were no spectators, lol. i have prayed for cool weather all week and that has ben granted so that must be a sign all will be well.
When I started training 6 months ago I thought i might be able to do this in an hour, NO WAY! I had no idea how hard it is to improve (from being a couch potato) So now I just want to finish and , perhaps, not be last or fall down! 2 hours is more realistic i think.
My 6 year old grandson told me I was silly to be doing this as "you wont win grandma" i tried to explain about trying and raising money for research, just taking part but he wasnt convinced but at least it reminded me of why I am doing this and today I feel maybe a fraction of the fear Ed faced when going for treatment and I admit to having no knowledge of how sufferers cope with their fears of facing cancer. I try to run for you as some contribution to that fight. i will do my best today .
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
