beaverbrooks 10k

Less than one minute read time.

Well the day has dawned, my 1st 10k and the nerves are terrible. Just wish there were no spectators, lol. i have prayed for cool weather all week and that has ben granted so that must be a sign all will be well.

When I started training 6 months ago I thought i might be able to do this in an hour, NO WAY! I had no idea how hard it is to improve (from being a couch potato) So now I just want to finish and , perhaps, not be last or fall down! 2 hours is more realistic i think.

My 6 year old grandson told me I was silly to be doing this as "you wont win grandma" i tried to explain about trying and raising money for research, just taking part but he wasnt convinced but at least it reminded me of why I am doing this and today I feel maybe a fraction of the fear Ed faced when going for treatment and I admit to having no knowledge of how sufferers cope with their fears of facing cancer. I try to run for you as some contribution to that fight. i will do my best today .

Thankyou my friends, I managed 93 minutes and am over the moon! Another medal to hang on Eds photo ( along with the Santa Dash one) and over £500 for the cause. I couldnt stop crying when it was over just for him to be able to hug me, he would have been so proud. Any way manchester next week!

take care of yourselves, love leisha xxxxxxxxx
