chemo 4 completed!

Less than one minute read time.
Had my 4th chemo on Friday- whoo hoo, that means only 2 left! My platelets had actually gone up! ( admittedly by only 1 point, but moving the right way for me). I also got my CT results, ' stable disease' - which is good so they say, all in all a good day. Paying for it now- aches and pains kicking in- Aargh! Just vegging out now, for some reason I have an urge for really disgusting food- a fry up or egg and chips with beans, why I dont know, anyone else get that? maybe just comfort eating. my weight has stayed the same same since my op in jan (10 st 4lb) but for some reason both bloods and urine are showing a high glucose count, again anyone else had that? the Nurse couldn't account for it as I eat very healthily, and told me to carry on with what I was doing. Any answers gratefully received!

    Hi,

I also have a craving for chocolate, which like Drew, I never eat!!! or biscuits or anything sweet.

I usually much prefer savoury things.

I have found myself buying chocolate when I buy the paper and chocolate biscuits when I go shopping, just so I have something in the cupboard.

My partner says its a substitute for sex though as my libido has dwained somewhat with all the ops and treatment!!!

Hopefully it will come back soon, and then I can give up the chocolate and get fit again!!!

    Take care

    Jo x

    Hi there,

New to this site today and good to find someone so near to my situation.

I too had my 4th dose of chemo last Thursday and the aches and pains are in now so not my best day. I am on ICON 7 but on the control arm without the Avastin. I have been troubled a litlle with nose bleeds all along but not to any huge degree. My neutophyll count has been getting very low and I am concerned that this may cause delay or reduction in chemo dose. Only just made the chemo last week by 0.1 of a neutrophyll. Also the tingling/numbeness in my feet is a bit of a concern too as they may cut the dose if this worsens.

As far as the food goes my appetite is not good this week but I will make up for that over the next 2 weeks. I have gained about 10lbs! So you are doing well with staying the same. My taste cravings are for vinegar and salad dressing with everything whlst still trying to stick to as healthy a diet as possible.

    Take care, S

    Hi

After my first chemo I was desperate for peanut butter, I only needed a teaspoon full.  Then as we were late and my sisters kids wanted McD's - I had one too, don't usually have then but it was great!

Over the months my tasts have changed, not that keen on chocolate, but went through a stage of jelly sweets, wine gums and licorace allsorts. I did put weight on but have lost it all this month, because my appitite has gone - but on saturday on the way to a friends I realised I had only had a cuppa and 2 digestives all day, so stopped at a supermarket. I really fancied pork pie or something, so I bought 2 scotch eggs and ate them in the car park.........they tasted fantastic.  I think a few of us have fancied "unhealthy" things we wouldn't usually touch pork pies seems to be a common one, I had one for pickle at one stage and salty stuff. A little of what you fancy on occasion doesn't hurt.

My blood glucose went up to 12 around cycle 5, and then sky high (18) around cycle 6 - so they stopped my steroids as the oncologist thought it might be due to the chemo and steroids.  It has gone down to 11, but I have still been referred to the diabetes nurse at my GP's.  If your nurse and oncologst are happy, just keep doing what you are doing.

Take care and good luck with the rest of your chemo

    Love Carol x
