FINGER NAILS STARTING TO FALL OUT!!!!

Less than one minute read time.

Yuk, and oh no!  were my first reactions to finding my 'peter pointer' finger nail hanging off.  Am not sure what to do once it off  to protect my nail bed, any suggestions greatly received.  Finished my chemo (3 FEC100 and 3 TAX) on 2nd July and wasn't expecting this!!

Thank you,

Alex

    Dear Sarsfield

hmmm false ones good idea but my nail beds are really sore, good idea with gloves have cotton ones so I'll look like royalty will have to perfect my regal wave!!!!!!

Please don't stick false ones on... It will make it worse.... Plenty of moisturizer.... And this sounds like and old wives tale but I am a qualified manicurist ..... A cube of jelly a day... No really please believe me it works.... Mine are coming off too.... I'm on my 5 th taxotere now ..... But moisture will help the glue or gel for false ones will dry them out.... They will grow back... But like everything it takes time

    Good luck xx

also have you thought about painting your nails a darkish colour on the remaining ones? Taxotere makes them fall out by reacting to the sunlight on your nail beds- therefore the reaction makes some of your nails fall out.

Mine are going too, along with the toenails. They do grow back, mine fell off last year too.

Other than lots of moisturizer, if mine are hanging off but not quite ready to fall (sorry to be so graphic) I put a bit of micropore tape around them. It stops them catching and pulling ... not sure if that's the 'right' thing to do but it stopped me saying 'ouch' a lot!

    Good luck
