The waiting....

Less than one minute read time.

Does anyone know why we have to wait 2 weeks to get results?

I do sympathise with you, waiting is so tough.  So often, it seems the last people the NHS burocracy considers is its patients.

  • Hi   they will have to test the biopsy in the lab and this can take a week some times longer, then the results are discussed at the MDT meeting then you get to find out, including if its bad news your treatment plan.

So try not to worry and keep yourself busy till your appointment.

    Hi Jools,

It will take as long as it takes and they are absolutly

sure of the results. Yes about 2 weeks is the norm

but dont go worrying until you get the results. Good

    Luck.

    Hi Joolz,

As John explained, the results have to go through several hands & meetings before they get to you - annoying & depressing I know, but at least the experts have seen them, discussed them and know what they are going to say & do before you get there. There is nothing worse than speaking to a doctor who hasn't a clue about what the next step is because they haven't taken time to read your notes!

The waiting is the worst of this disease - at least when you have the facts you can decide what to do & take some measure of control of the situation. Meanwhile the best thing to do is keep busy, try & keep up with the normal things in life & try not to worry too much - it won't solve anything & will make you feel worse. And as my consultant said when she gave me the bad news that the melanoma had returned after 13 years - "it's not the end of the world". I thought she was mad but as time has gone on I agree with her - it's a bugger to deal with & turns your life upside down but you learn to work around it and life settles down again after a while - maybe not exactly the same as before, but it's still a good life all the same.

Good luck with the results when they arrive & keep busy until then!

    Love Angie xx
