The central heating I could do without

1 minute read time.
This disease is a real b....r isn't it? I went through the menopause many years ago with minimum problems, no problems with the dreaded hot sweats which many friends have had. The only real problem was one of mood changes and that was solved with a short burst of HRT. Since then all has been fine and dandy. Well, until recently that is. I've been very lucky on my chemo what side effects I have had have been very mild and have not created any real problems. But I have noticed an increasing number of warm spells and I don't mean in the weather. At first I wasn't quite sure what was casung it. Was it a dreaded temperature spike? Was I wearing a hat? Too woolly a jumper? A scarf round my neck? Was I sitting too near the radiator? In bed had my husband thrown the duvet over me so I was under a double layer? Had the central heating been left on? Had my husband got a temperature? The answer to all of these was a very definite NO! It was me and the bl.... sweats. Having avoided tghem throught the menopause they have managed to catch up on me via the chemo. All I can say is thank goodness the weather is still cool. I'm wandering around with an incredible central heating system, the only problem is I can find the switch to turn it on and off when I want to which is a pity. It would be wonderful to switch it on first thing in the morning and wake instantly warm, or at the bus stop when the wind is blowing in the wrong direction or even last thing at night just before I get into that cold bed. But the one thing I would definitely do once in bed would be to switch it off until morning . Waking up for loo breaks is bad enough but walking up for cooling off breaks as well is a thing I can do without. Take care all Love Kathx

      Hi Kath and Carol

Me too can I join the melting pot.  I regularly play hokey cokey with the duvet - in out, in out - don;t have energy at 2am to shake it all about.... or 3am or 4am!!

I get one as soon as I wake and get out of bed as well off times during the day, I spend more time sitting in the bathroom every night as it has a ceramic floor, would sleep on it if it wasn't so hard. The worse time is at the checkout in the supermarket, I always get one there and end up looking like the incredible dissolving women.  Yuk.

      Oh the joys of hormones.

      Take care

      Love Carol xx

Soon enough you will be over it and will be so relieved.  Until we get this summer's succession of heatwaves!

        Are we downhearted?  No!

        • Hi Kath,

Sorry you are having this problem. I got through the menopause with the help of HRT but my problem now is the opposite - I'm freezing cold!  I haven't had chemo so what's my excuse! I'll have to blame Tamaxofen instead.

          Hope you feel better soon,

          KateG
