The car crash ( well not quite a crash more a little bump)

2 minute read time.

So the toe was healed enough to get back behind the wheel of a car and the driving lessons recommenced. I was very nervous and my lovely instructor drove to a nice piece of the road before we swapped seats. Seat off eventually, ( once the nerves were settled.) Down the hill, which always gives me collywobbles, up the other side, no probs, getting more settled.  On to the by pass, up the speed, no probs! manage to keep to the left of the road when going round the bed where there was a huge drop on that side ( I do mean a HUGE drop) Hey , I can remember this. On through two, yes two town centres. slight wobble but not to bad. Feeling comfy, quite confident and relaxed. Heading for home, three roads to choose, two relatively easy, one twisty turney. Which had I to take, yes the twisty turney one. Tummy flipping, slow round the corner...Yes I have done it! Homeward bound. Did nice right turn across the traffic and down to my street. ( Yes bear with me it is about a bump)

Now I live in a Close and in the turning circle part of the close. I hate driving up this bit because my neighbour parks his car on the road and I have to turn to face my garden wall and I am terrified of hitting the car. To make matters worse there is another car parked, so I have a very small space ( well it looks small to me!)

Tummy in turmoil, slow , slow, doing this bit well, slow, slow, begin to turn, perfect ( my driving instructor's words not mine) straighten up, great. Front of car lined up with my garden wall, super, slow speed not brake. BRAKE! No my foot didn't hit the brake... instead it hit the gas pedal. ( Thank heavens for dual control cars) We lurched up the pavement and into my garden wall!  BANG!Dented the bumper, cracked the number plate, caused one of the stones to go flying across my garden.

My husband came out of the house, not to see me, but to tend to his bl**dy wall, a neighbour from across the way flew out with registration number to give to my next door neighbour incase I had hit their car. I sat their quite frozen, with badly bruised pride!

Well I suppose we all have to have bumps , but only I could have my first bump less than 6 feet from my own home! Oh and in case you are wondering, I have had a lesson since,, which went well, but not I didn't drive down my street. I think I shall leave that till next week.... or the week after.... or maybe once I pass my test..... or maybe that's the bit I'll let my husband drive!!!

Love and hugs to all

Kathxxx
