Superwoman? No not me!

1 minute read time.
Well it had to happen sooner or later. I have my sixth chemo this week ( hopefully) annd up to date the side effects I have had have been very slight and have not caused me any real problems, And yes I know how lucky I have been. I've been carrying on regarless the only concession is I am on sick not because of any effects but because of the risk of getting an infection. So It was half term last week and my daughter who is at university had no one to mind the children so I said, "bring them over they can stay for the week" So over they came.My granddaughter is 10 and has found my diagnosis a bit difficult and has been upset, so I thought seeing Gran do normal things would be good for her and we could have chats about cancer if she wanted to . My grandson is 4 and the diagnosis has gonre over his head. So we have obviouisly done lots this week, Out everyday except for today when we watched a couple of DVDs.We have visited, been to the park, shopped, cooked together, made models and had lots of chats and jokes about the big C, including jokes about their one boobed gran. We had hairdressing sessions with my wig ( my grandson ended up looking like a young Beatle!) Both of them have found my fuzzy head fascinating and have had to keep rubbing and polishing it. My granddaughter found a lovely way of getting her hands wam and giving gran a shock at the same time, she would lag behind me and then creep her hand up under my hat and plonking her hand on my head with much laughter and shrieks. Well it has been fantastic and I think it did my granddaughter lots of good to see me almost like my oldself, just bald. But boy am I absolutely shattered! I am sooooo tired I think I need to sleep for a week! So tomorrow I inted having a lazy day in bed I shall take my lap top up with me and watch some DVDs between snoozes. Then Tuesday go off for the blood test and hopefully it will be good enough for the chemo on Wednesday.Meanwhile I'm heading for bed and catching up on some rest. Take care everyone Kath x

What a fantastic week, isn't it funny how children are fasinated by our hair:  I can remember brushing my grandmothers and my young nephew brushing mine - he was upset when I had it cut short.  I think we also forget how tiring it is, but you can have a week to chill. I've had a lazy day today as well.

Like you I have just contined to do things including working, until cycle 4 of the Epi and then the tiredness started.  My GP said very nicely that I was expecting too much to deal with chemo and work and have any social life, so he wouldn't sanction me being at work ... so I have joined you at home on sick leave and you are right its bl***y boring.  How have you found the CMF?  I do feel more tired, my brain has these great ideas of things to do and then my body says no you don't.   I have found the CMF OK, but it does play havoc with my stomach..including sound effects!!!  First time I've been glad I live alone, well apart from the poor dog.

Just think cycle 6 - you are nearly 3/4 of the way through and I'm chasing you to the finishing line.blood test.

    Take care

Thank  goodness it isn't just me! My stomach had been rumbling and grumbling for days and days ( and we all know what follows tummy rumbles. I have to admit to increasing the hole in the ozone layer by at least 50%!) It seemed to start in the evening when I had settled down and then continue to the early hours, abating until the next evening. It seems to have settled down but I'm due the second CMF this week so no doubt it will begin again.  I've found the CMF less troublesome than the epi, no sore throat for one. I had a bit of a sore mouth but that only lasted a couple of days so I can't complain. Yes 6th cycle started the time seems to be flying by. The boredom is still there but I have a tentative date to return to work for a bit ( if I can persuade the doctor) so having that date in my head is helpful.

    Take care
