Well it had to happen didn't it. 8 months of chemo and no real problems, okay lost the hair, a couple of bad tummies but nothing I couldn't handle. Got up and out every day, although 'tis true I did get out of bed later, and go earlier. Well, on Monday I had my first dose of zometa, my daughter calls it the zombie drug! (She knows someone who had had it.) There a=was no problem getting the cannula in (praise be!) I have a lovely nurse who knows how needles make me feel. Got home started with a headache (I have a headache once in a blue moon if that) and an ache in my back ( as with headaches I don't get bad backs,) Tuesday I had to go into work as I was covering a class but felt terrible. Hot sweats aches etc. Was told there was a supply in who would cover the afternoon class which was just as well as come dinner time the chills had set in. Left work early climbed on the sofa with the duvet and a hottie and slept and slept. Woke up this morning still feeling under the weather so have taken another sickie and stayed in bed. Do feel better now. Well I really have no choice in the matter as it's parents' night tomorrow and I will have to be there for that. Having read up on zometa I have discovered that the side effects are often worse with the first dose, so I am crossing my fingers that the next one will be a piece of cake.
