Oh what a beautiful morning....let's all get singing

1 minute read time.
I have done a lot of reading around cancer finding questions to lots of the questions I had formulated. I’m one of those people who like to find out answers for myself, But now have decided I want to read about people who have lived through cancer and of their experiences. So off I went to the library to see what was on the shelves. Well one title leapt off the shelves. It’s called It’s not over till the Bag Lady rings and is written by Ian F. Spratley. Published by Spring Hill Dewey code at library 616.994 3 SPR ISBN number 978 1 905862 14 6. The author had bowel cancer which spread to his liver but the main focus of the book is his dealings with his temporary stoma. I know it probably doesn’t sound brilliant reading matter but it is. It was originally his online blog but he was persuaded to transform it into a book but still written in blog format. It really is a good read but the gem hidden in this book is the following version of the Rogers and Hammerstein son “ Oh what a beautiful morning “ and I do want to share it with you. So here goes…. There’s a bright golden lump on my liver There’s a bright golden lump on my liver My blood count is high I’m not going to die ‘Cos the one on my colon is waving good bye Oh what a beautiful morning Oh what a beautiful day I’ve got a beautiful felling My cancer is going away Oh the nurses all smile when they greet me Oh the nurses all smile when they greet me I smile but can’t speak ‘Cos I still feel a freak With this thing on my stomach that’s threatening to leak Oh what a beautiful morning Oh what a beautiful day I’ve got a beautiful felling My cancer is going away Oh the chemo it does do my head in Oh the chemo it does do my head in My tongue is the pits And I’m covered in zits But I’m high ‘cos my blog has had 22,728 hits Oh what a beautiful morning Oh what a beautiful day I’ve got a beautiful felling My cancer is going away ( Now come on how many of you sang this either in your head or out loud as you read it?)
