Computers don't talk to each other!

2 minute read time.
One nice thing about having to go to the hospital today was that I could have a nice little lie in, especially as I have to get up earlier than normal tomorrow. Tootled off to the hospital and sat and waited, as usual the clininc ran late but eventually the oncologist arrived. Read the report from the x ray department, yes there was something around the area of my hip. Fine. BUT I had my x-ray taken at the hospital in Bury as that is where my gp is and the clinic is at the hospital in Bolton ( I live in Bolton), two towns only a few miles apart but are in different hospital trusts and they do not seem to communicate with each other. SO my x-ray films are on the system in Bury which cannot be accessed by the hospital in Bolton. Bu**er!!The oncologist is unable to see the x-ray and as such cannot come to any kind of conclusion. So decided to send me for a bone and a CT scan, and get some blood work done. He did say the bone scan would take a couple of weeks and that the ct scans were booked up. Went on to discuss treatment if there were bone mets, radiation and zometa. Off he went and the nurse came to draw blood. Now my veins are rubbish, they packed in just before the last cycle of chemo so i was not looking forward to that and explained to the nurse all this and my experience of my last blood test at Bury when the vampire blood sucker did not listento me and tried to draw blood out of a non-compliant vein "because it felt ok" My stomach did a summersault and I almost threw up. On hearing this she decided I would bebetter going to the outpatients to have the blood drawn but then one of the nurses who has drawn my blood before popped her head round and asked how I was etc hearing that bloor was needed she said she would do it and the blodd flowed so easily . She has the knack down to a t. Spent the afternoon at work, had a grotty lesson with year five in the computer room, end of day is not their best time. Got home at half five, a short while later the phone went, it's the radiology department with the date for my CT scan, next Thursday! Yes, an hour of drinking that gloopy liquid and then yet another needle.. I'm a wimp I know. Having said that I am convinced this disease only visits those it knows are strong enough to deal with it!! Thanks for all the supportive comments ... they have really made a differenc this week. Love and hugs kath xxx

Thanks for letting us know how you got on - at least the Ct scan is going to be very soon. Sorry you are not much further forward but at least you know what the treatments will be if anything is found. Hang on in there we are all right behind you Sending love Jools xxx
