chemo round two... come out fighting!

1 minute read time.

MRI results showed that the little blighter has now decided to make its home in my liver and has set up quite an extensive community there. The initial plan, based on the Ct result, was to change the hormone tablets from tamoxifen to faslodex, but having seen the MRI my onc has decided it is chemo for me.  I have to wait until 12th Jan for it to start as he wants to get all traces of the tamoxifen out of my system.

Now the first time I had chemo I took the time out of work and was absolutely fine, hardly any ill days so I asked the onc if I could try working for a cycle or so. ( My boss would really rather I did not work) He agreed so I arranged a meeting with my head and deputy this afternoon. I explained what I wanted to do, and why and surprisingy all I wanted was agreed to!  And I am very much in charge of how and when I work!

Let's just hope the side effects are as slight as they were with round one. Have to consider whether to carry on with my driving lessons. This chemo can cause problems with hands and feet and i am a bit worried about the effect this would have on my pedal control. I shall have words with my wonderful instructor and take his advice.

Well of course the chemo will cause the almost enevitable hair loss, well aided by me shaving the straggly bits off. The only problem is I cannot find my wig, (not that I wore it very often)  I can remember my grandson running around wearing it but that was ages ago.... I shall have to go on a wig hunt before much longer... or invest in a new one..... mm... long blond... ringlets.....pink...blue   so much choice!

Good luck, I'm sure you will do well, keeping busy is a good idea too, your entitled to a new wig on the nhs, your actually supposed to get one every 6 months if needed, I went for a layered bob this time because last time I tried to stay something like my natural and it was a disaster as wigs don't do curls well lol...... Good luck with it all kick the gremlins butt!!!

  • Nasty little blighter setting up home in your liver! I hope this doesn't mean that you can't have a Christmas drink?

I think you're very brave wanting to work through your chemo and I hope it won't knock too much out of you.

    Best wishes,
