Bald is beautiful!

2 minute read time.
Since losing my hair it has struck me as being really unfair that no one bats an eye at those of the male gender who wander around with their heads bald as coots. Some are attractive I admit but others are frankly quite ugly. So what about us of the female gender? Well I have been ruminating about this for a while and finally decided action was needed. But would I have the courage? Initially I covered my head with a range of hats and was reluctant for family to see my pate, not because of embarrassment on my part but for fear of it upsetting them. But the hats made me flaming hot! I have a wig which I have worn once on a theatre visit and spent most of the time sitting ridgidly for fear of it slipping. My so supportive husband did get out the double sided sticky tape and offer to apply it. Needless to say I declined but having got on the bus with a driver who was determined to drive at speed through every pothole in the road until reaching the terminus I began to doubt my judgement. I have also bared all ( only the head mind you ) in governers’ meetings at friends’ houses and am quite happy to do that. Well I have recently begun to refoliate ( I hope that is a real word) I’m between peach fluff and soft felt. So if I was going to do something the time was right. The last couple of week’s I’ve been whipping the hat off when I’ve got off the bus and walking home. People’s reaction is quite strange, some smiles , one lady said hello, but the men seem to look away. But today I thought I go for the big time. Well it wasn’t really the big time, it was just a supermarket shop Sainsburys to be exact. It had been snowing a little and my hat was a bit wet. Well I did it. Got through the doorway whipped off the hat and did the shopping and then went into the café for something to eat with my bald head. And do you know after the initial trepidation it felt good! So tomorrow ,courage willing I’m going to get on the bus minus hat and I am going to shop in town minus hat And I will hold my head up with pride. Take care all Kathx

I agree you go for it, but don't forget some sunscreen if we ever get any sun.  Peach fluff/felt sounds lovely - what colour were you before.  It might grow back curly!!  We are a funny lot aren't we not doing things or putting on a front so as not to upset our families.  As you know the cold cap worked for me, but I do get hot flushes unexpectedly - I'm regularly standing at the checkout havng a "very tropical pheww moment" where I can't wait to get to the car, cool down and have a cold drink.

Good luck with your next topless shopping trip

    Love

Hi Kath. I admire your courage and your ability to not take yourself too seriously - a vital skill in times of trouble. I love the word 'refoliate'. I think it refers more to plants than people, but it's given me a wonderful mental image of you beginning to bloom as Spring draws closer. When your hair comes back you must wear flowers in it! :o)

    Best wishes,

What a wonderful picture, that made me smile.  I vote we reinstate hippy flowers in your hair.

I am definitely up for the return of the hippy chick, especially if we can play all the music as well. Carol the hair has changed its colour. At first my grandchildren described it as like a zebra so I was slightly fearfull I might end up with zebra stripes. Then I noticed a much darker patch and thought I would end up looking like Cruella de Ville which would be brilliant for disciplining the children in school but then my husband ad a closer look and he seems to think it will be darker than it was before and it is looking as if all they grey might ( fingers crossed) have dissappeared ( I'm not holding out much hope of that ) It isn't long enough to tell whether it is curly or not yet but as my last perm was probably 20+ years ago I think I could live with that I shall just have to wait and see. How did the CMF go? Me I'm fine all done and dusted in under half an hour!

    Take care

Hey Kath thats really good about the hair, not sure of the Cruella image and frigtening little children - big ones yes.  Oh yes hippy chick music, woodstock - fantastic idea.Hippy chck fashion seems to be in as well.

So far the second CMF seems fine, haven't yet got the funny taste buds and they have stopped my steroids as they think it might be affecting my blood glucose which has gone through the roof this month. But yes like you I am in and out in 30 mins, its great.  As its a sunny day I'm going to do some gardening, so will probably do too much as usual and be tired tomorrow - but thats OK.  Still can't get used to this being at home though, even though I know I can't do a whole day and cope with the drive.

Oh well I think another cuppa is in order, before I go off it for a few days.  Then into the garden.

    Take care.
