Well we had a lovely couple of days, now all I need to do is sleep for the next week! We got to our hotel room and the sofa bed had been pulled out and the extra mattress was on the floor by the window. My grandson (5) saw that and said that was where he would sleep granddaughter was really peeved and so it was decided he would sleep there the first night and she the second. Off to bug world. Now I am really scared of spiders and there just off the entrance were three glass tanks.... grandson pressed his face up to one of them. I focused my eyes on the contents of said tank bloody big tarantula. Grabbed grandson and yanked him back... Yes I know there was glass and it was a silly thing to do but sheer terror took over. Every time we came to a tank I sent my granddaughter to read what was in it before I approached .. Did manage to get granddaughter to hold millipede and Madagascan cockroach but she flatly refused to eat the giant ants.... they tasted a bit like bacon which was wrapped in popcorn skin ( I ate hers as well as mine) On to the maritime museum which went down well with both of them. Had meal in hotel which was good and the husband and grandson tootled off to bed whilst we had a drink... Yes I had wine , first alcohol in ages granddaughter had j2o. When we got to our room all we could hear was snores.
Can't go to Liverpool without crossing the Mersey so booked on the cruise and then visited spaceport. Got to the centre of the river when boat came to a halt. A family had brought their relatives ashes to scatter on the water.
Spaceport was good fun, although husband managed to fall asleep in the cinema part, it was a bit like a planetarium, you know reclining seats and then it went dark that was it for him ... fortunately the sound track was quite loud so his snoring did not affect anyone's enjoyment.
Next was my moment of madness.. Let's walk to New Brighton I say and he agrees so off we walk not realise quite how far. I took the children down along the beach and they had lots of fun finding shells and stones, although grandson is not sure yet what pebble means he wanted to collect bl**dy big boulders!. When we got to New Brighton there was a rebellion " You don't mean we have to walk all that way back" says granddaughter. Husband was beginning to flag so we caught the bus back to the ferry.
Another nice meal... then bedtime "I'm not sleeping in the little bed" said grandson "I'm sleeping with grandma" "Well if you are doing that so am I " said granddaughter, "Granddad can sleep on the floor" which he did. Well both of my grandchildren are like hot water bottles in bed and it was just too hot, so I decamped to the small bed, husband is on the floor and the two children are in the lovely king sized bed. Something not quite right with that!!!
This morning did a bit of shopping and then headed home, both children thinking of where to go next. One question I would love to know the answer to ....How is it they can set of with a fiver in their purse, spend well over a tenner each and still end up with five pounds to take back home.. wish that worked when I went shopping!
Oh my bed is beckoning me..
Take care all
Kath xx
