Hello everyone, I am afraid i am new and not sure how this works...
My dad had the Ivor Lewis op this week he is still in intensive care. I thought he was just having a tumour removed from the gullet. Post surgery (8hr op) we were told he had the oesphagectomy, partial stomach removal and that he had lost his spleen too. As this was bleeding? Was it ruptured during the process? Originally he had a 6cm tumour which was reduced by chemo, over 70% reduction so I don't quiet know why everything else has happened. As a family we were not prept for this. No one ever mentioned the spleen as a complication? I feel angry and really upset at how he is and I am wondering if he will ever have a good quality of life after this op.
I also get married soon and I so hoped he would give me away. Will he be well enough in four months??
I know he is not the only one to have gone through this. I know lots of people have this op. It was suggested to me that a lady called crystal might be able to help me? If you do read this any support you can offer would me the world to me.
Thank you for reading x
