The purpose of this blog is to highlight that you do need to check and double check you have made your wishes clear. if like us you decide to organise and pay for your own funeral. However I do not wish to offend anyone so if contemplating death and the process following a death is upsetting please stop reading now..........
Peter and myself are very comfortable discussing and dealing with death so it seemed logical for us to plan and pay for our funerals .. job done we felt we could tick it off our list and relax knowing that our wishes would be carried out..............
We told our eldest daughter that she only needed to go to the Co-op and they would deal with everything.
She came over the next day looking very concerned ,
" But how do I get you there" she asked ....
" You don't take us, we said, you phone, they collect" and gave her the contact card.
Oh I thought you meant the supermarket and I wouldn't know which fridge to put you in". she had a cartoon running in her head where she goes into the Co-op with one of us in her arms and the manager says just drop them between the frozen peas and pizza I will sort em out later.
We just fell apart laughing and decided to go over the other details to ensure no more misunderstandings.
Why do you want Annie's Song ? she asked We explained how it had been in the charts when we met and we used to lay in bed and listen to it playing on the juke box in the pub opposite.
Well O.K she says if its what you want but I cant see us singing .. The Sun will come out tomorrow bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow......................STOP
NOT THAT ONE we mean Annie's Song by John Denver
And as to our ashes we want to be tipped in together shook up and sprinkled in Colwell Bay, however our youngest daughter had joined the fiasco and was staking her claim on a few ounces to have a diamond made,
If you are still reading you will not be suprised that Peter and I agreed to send a message after we have gone to let the other one know we have arrived.I have a strong faith Peter is a non believer. He said he would show me his sign later..
I came home from shopping to find The Salvation Army Band on my doorstep
playing How Great Thou Art ( my favorite hymn )
I told him that is a tad OTT and flicked him a little sign of my own xxx
