Peter has rallied so well that we decided to kick up our heels ,while we can.
Friday we shopped for new clothes as he has lost so much weight he was looking like a little boy in his dads suit.,we bought nice summer shirts, chinos even sunglasses, then as he is eating better each day we enjoyed a leisurely pub lunch followed by a boat trip round the harbour later we sat and watched the sunset over the sea absolutely brilliant. It did us both the world of good and Peter's spirits were lifted by the normality of the day.
Saturday Peter's new reclining armchair arrived, our lovely son in law came and rearranged the lounge to accommodate this new toy. Its so comfy Peter climbed in and slept all afternoon. meanwhile I was anxiously watching the weather, I rang the hot air balloon flight line at 22.00 hrs to be informed that my secretly booked dawn flight for all the family ,over the countryside followed by a champagne reception had been cancelled due to wind. ( weather not the pilots)
The family were unaware what I had planned, just that they needed to be up at 4.30 then I would txt further instructions it was to be real secret squirrel stuff Our two daughters their husbands & 3 grandchildren were already in bed, huh!! I had to phone them and say the early surprise is off .
Oh well the best laid plans as they say I had chosen the hot air balloon ride as an activity we could all do together, the only restriction is height and we are all over 4ft 6.
Sunday The cat is well and truly out of the bag. Peter guessed what it was when I said he could have a lie in. The rest of the family still woke early they said they had been keen not to oversleep,
our family day began not as planned but with a visit to an outdoor activity park where Peter joined in riding the zip wire, swings and rope ways, it was so good to see him able to enjoy activities we previously took for granted .
The 9 of us then had lunch at a rather posh old coaching inn where the service, food, drink and venue was first class and enjoyed by all of us.
We took loads of photos and relished the happy day and although I was disappointed that my big surprise didn't happen. we still have it to look forward to, I have rescheduled for mid August. weather and Peters health permitting
Peter has one more week of steroids then he has to go it alone, I will do everything I can to ensure he continues to improve and enjoy life. we can still have adventures and fun and quiet times and peace we just have to try. and not waste a moment.
