Thank You xx

1 minute read time.

Thank you all for your replies and  messages following my last brief post, We do appreciate your kind words and support.

I am pleased to say that we have 'oiked Peter back by the braces' and are in a more settled place.

It has been a hairy and exhausting time and  I wondered how we could keep going, as you all know its hard to stay focused and positive when you are so tired you could sleep standing up, let alone give cohesive accurate accounts and reasoned arguments to ensure the best for your dear ones.

Any way we will not dwell on the past but look forward again.

Following a raft of tests TRB have said that Peter's heart has not suffered to much damage and although they need to do a 24hour ECG and another scan, they feel he could tolerate more chemotherapy.

Peter stoically completed his 12 days of Radiotherapy , even with every thing else going on.

His nausea and sickness has resolved.and we returned home last night :)) and sank happily into our bed.

The Plan :-

  • Trial Office have been informed of "Major Event" they will decide whether Peter can continue on the MM1 study with or without Herceptin.
  • We return to RMH on Tuesday for a planning meeting with the team

So we have six wonderful days stretched out in front of us , tucked up here at home , the sun is shining, Peter can rest and gain strength in the garden which is looking lovely spring flowers and birds feeding on the table, very relaxing.

And, I must tell you this, When Peter was in crushing pain and felt the end was approaching. I asked him if he wanted to ask the young pretty Doctor anything

his reply " I don't suppose she would go out with me anyway".................

Mushty, so glad to see your latest and more positive post. You have both endured a lot over the past week, but I am glad to see you looking forward again, and that Peter has not lost his quick wit! Enjoy the garden, and the chance to rest up. Hugs to you both xx

Peter is indeed a medical marvel! I am relieved to hear that there is another plan in place going forward. Was thinking of you both yesterday, and I logged in today to see if there was an update. To survive a heart attack but still be fit enough for chemo is indeed miraculous when you read the stories on here of loved ones who are not deemed well enough for the treatment.

You both have tremendous strength (and marvellous wit & humour) and I'm sure everyone who reads your blog hopes that Peter can keep going for quite a while yet.

Oh Mushty, I never got around to writing when you posted about Peter's heart attack!  I simply couldn't believe that one human being could have to go through so much.  But now here you are writing positively again.  You are the most amazing and wonderful couple - Peter for his stoicism, strength (gosh, well enough to tolerate chemo after a heart attack!) and humour (loved the story about the pretty doctor!), and you for your strength, optimism and love.  I wish you joy, peace, sunshine and good weather for the next few days, and that the planning meeting on Tues shows you a clear way forward.  Please keep us up to date when you can.

Love and hugs to you both, Dyad

Hello Mushty.  I'm only just catching up on the blogs and finding out about Peter's heart attack.  I'm sure you are both an inspiration for many people.  It is wonderful that Peter is still displaying his marvellous wit after all you are both going through.  Sending you both a hug.  Love from Margaret x

Again thank you all , it is humbling to imagine others reading, following and gaining inspiration from my blogs.

We received the Cardiac Oncologists written report today, its way beyond my understanding so we flipped it into the drawer and agreed not to try and second guess the impact it will have on Peter's future chemotherapy prospects. We have no influence on the protocols applied to trial participants, but we had a call from his team today  giving us a heads up that, having seen the report Its unlikely Peter will continue on the trial.

Hugs and Best Wishes to you all Mushty X
