Nest or Man Cave ?

1 minute read time.

Our eldest daughter  suggested last week, we should build a Nest in their huge bungalow for her Dad to use over Christmas and beyond, as he needs to get into position to combat pain then he sleeps off and on through the day.

We bought a large comfy very old recliner chair and set it up in a room next to the bathroom. A  television, lamp, pillow, fleece blanket hot water bottle , coffee table etc  and us girls were happy with the Nest.

It has been marvelous Peter has been able to dip in and out of the madness that is Christmas in her home.by taking himself off to  curl up comfy and quiet to watch TV or for a sleep whenever he has needed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, while the rest of this noisy household has continued with the festivities, he has emerged refreshed to join the frenzy of Grand children on scooters in the hall and skateboarding in the kitchen, a dog dancing to the music from keyboards, and various devises I know not what they are called.

I have been able to cook and enjoy Christmas while watching over him, it has been a wonderful time our youngest daughter has visited each day and the grandchildren are such fun it is heartwarming to see their excitement and pleasure, they know that Granddad has cancer and what that means for him, as we have always answered their questions honestly, according to their age and ability to understand, so they are free to enjoy life without being concerned that Granddad was sleeping again or having different food,

My dear son in law informed me  it is not a Nest but a Man Cave. which he intends to make full use of from now on to retain his sanity.

The nest sounds like a great idea.  A friend of mine has a "Man Cave" complete with a fully functional 1980's arcade game machine, a dart board, bar and pool table.  So keep an eye on Peter in case his demands start to stretch to luxury items!

Sounds like you guys are having a lovely family Christmas - that must mean so much to you, and long may it continue.

    All the best,

    Mushty:

I have not been on the site much lately (for reasons I will not go into) but yours was one of the first blogs I looked up to get news of Peter.

You two are amazing. Your love for each other comes through in your writing and I am in awe of your courage and grace.

Sending healing hugs and positive vibes for 2014.
