We have embraced many changes in life and fortunes since we met.The amazing fun and excitement at first when I was a young midwife and Peter was a Lorry driver we would throw so many sicky's to spend all our time together. we both nearly lost our jobs , then Marriage only 4 months after we met just because it seemed like a good idea, never thought it would last just did it. I continued to live and work 30 miles away from Peter even after we married until Peter found us a little rented room above a shop and we lived together proper. Wow that was a huge learning curve he had never left home until then , whereas I left when I was sixteen and had lived in nurses homes or shared houses. I thought married life would be like sharing with girls WRONG......
But we gradually adjusted 4 years later our first daughter was born we bought our first home a bungalow out in the sticks and life was sweet Peter had his own haulage company employing several men I was a Health Visitor but gave it up when our second daughter came along .
Life then turned and the haulage contracts dried up we had to sell and made the first of 8 house sales we would make over the years. we were devastated to lose our first proper home but I think that prepared us for the ups and downs to come. I returned to work and Peter took a variety of jobs to keep us afloat
We have been in the gutter looking at the stars and up there looking down. Why is this relevant now?????
Because we are yet again for the umpteenth time adjusting to a new life. A life where Peter is tired, weaker and unable to do the activities he once enjoyed so we have to find new ways to enjoy this time.
This week we have seen P.J Proby. Gerry Marsden , The searchers , Brian Poole & Chip Hawkes, and The Fortunes in a sixties show at the Marlow in Canterbury. and Jo Pasqualle in Ha ha Holmes. at The Theatre Royal. We have been to the cinema to See Sunshine on Lieth and out for a drink. We cannot enjoy meals out and strenuous activities now but can sit and watch and chat and laugh and reminisce argue, moan, plan This time is precious and for living we are so grateful that we have it.
