Dangling the ( Fortisip ) Carrot.......

1 minute read time.

Each year Peter and I construct Advent Calenders for our Grandchildren a tradition that started because they couldn't eat chocolate/sweets. The calenders are  large as each day contains a present, every year has been different one year we made an icicle  out of a cane pea wigwam sprayed it silver and white and hung the presents on it in hand made snow balls. Last year different size white boxes made a a snow mountain avalanche which stood 4ft tall and slipped as they removed a box each day.

Why am I sitting in this lovely heatwave contemplating Christmas?..... Because I have had a genius idea....

This year we will use Fortisip Bottles to hold the gifts and construct a Large Bell out of them.................

The genius bit is Peter loves the Grandchildren and enjoys making these calenders so he is drinking the fortisip as prescribed with no arguments I only have to say 16 weeks to go I need 100 bottles.......

The labels come off easily leaving a white bottle, the top  diameter is only 3cm, a real challenge for us now to source interesting small items. Peter has a focus and he's not out in the garden up to no good..... but is up washed and dressed  working on the contents which  will include a piece of a jigsaw puzzle ( made from a family photo) a joke/ motto, and a gift i.e seeds to grow in the spring.

We will get the results of the CT scan on Friday and commence the next stage of our journey hopefully the extra calories and distraction will make Peter stronger to cope with whatever we are told.

Wimbledon Men's Final this afternoon so feet up in front of telly with a cool glass of fortisip .......

xx

WOW! This is an amazing idea. I love the Blue Peter style of your creative genius and of course the secondary reason for the advent calendar of getting all that Fortisip drunk! Sounds like an excellent distraction from being up to "no good" outdoors!

We also have Scan-Anxiety this week, on Weds we get told what the latest news is.

All the best for this week.

    Hello,

Thanks again for replying to me yesterday -it really helped. I wish you all the best for Friday and will be thinking of you. My Dad's scan showed that his stent has slipped out and is lying in his stomach! However, is swallowing is ok so there must have been an effect from the radio he had in May. Unfortunately there he has some progression to the adrenal glands. However, the Gastro team are still wanting to help us and are going to use the endoscopy to assess if they can send him for lasering at another centre, as our little district general does not do such an exotic procedure!

PS I told my Mum about your Fortisip Bell - she thought it was brilliant!

    All the best,
