Calling Time.

Less than one minute read time.

The Dr was right this cycle 8 is  tough.  Peter , who has coped  stoically to date has hit the wall.

He sleeps most of the time, has stopped eating and drinks very little, the weight is falling off him and he has had enough, Its horrid for him to feel so bad he says he would rather roll over and give in than carry on like this.

Peter has a CT scan booked on 5.07 2013 to inform what palliative treatment /care is offered, this being the case we have decided to call time on this last cycle of chemo and stop the Capecitabine 12 days early when the CT is done. as it will not make any difference to what is offered at the appointment with Professor Cunningham to discuss the next step is on 12.07.2013.

In the great scheme of things 24 doses isn't much is it, but just to much for Peter right now.

This does seem a gloomy blog but the next one should be brighter

Sorry to read that Peter has been feeling so unwell, and I'm sure it's even harder when he has coped so well up to now. My husband had only 6 cycles which he completed in April. As you know he had a stent inserted at that point. Since then he has been doing well, and as the last scan was stable, he's on a "watch and wait".  So a break for Peter is probably the best thing for him at the moment, and the treatment at this point may well have been as effective as if he had continued on. He will now be able to regain his strength, and as you say, your next blog will be bright again! Take care of yourself x

    Thank you TinaM,

It is encouraging and good to know your husband is doing well, long may it continue.

The team are going to assess Peter tomorrow due to his sudden decline , I hope this will confirm it to be the cumulative effect of chemo and resolvable.

    Stay Strong x
