A quick update on recent events:

My PICC line was fitted yesterday. I have a bit of discomfort around the point of entry and it bled quite a bit overnight. It was cleaned up and flushed through at the clinic today so all seems to be well.

I'm still getting used to it and showered with my arm wrapped in clingfilm this morning! The local pharmacies seemed a bit mystified when I asked if they sold plastic sleeves to protect…

The last time I blogged was early in my second cycle of chemo and I was struggling with the sickness. The sickness and nausea have continued to be a problem and over all this time round has been worse than the first. I have missed some doses of the oral capecitibine through being unsure whether I can keep my dinner down. Also, I've needed more rest.

I had my second IV dose of oxaliplatin on Tuesday and started the two weeks of oral capecitibine.

I'm not feeling great today, but at least…

The past few days have been really good. Finally, I seemed to get over the side effects of the Oxaliplatin (apart from a teensy bit of sensitivity in one arm), and the nausea from Capecitibine has also gone. I'm not even having to take the anti-sickness medication at the moment.

I had been beginning to feel as though I'd only have a few 'normal' days in each three week cycle but since Friday I've been pretty much…

... but then no-one ever claimed it would be.

A week into my first cycle of chemo and this is the story so far:

Last Tuesday the clinic was running 90 mins late so it was some time before I was set up with the cannula to receive my dose of Oxaliplatin. My veins did not want to play ball so it was a case of third time lucky before this happened successfully. I had a heat pack which makes it less painful, but this cooled…
