I am meeting the surgical team once again at The Marsden, in Surrey. They are finally going to tell me if they are now willing to carry out my operation, an Ivor Lewis procedure. Funnily enough, the thought of the op and recovery doesn't bother me at all - but what does bother me is their refusal.
The fist time I met the surgeon he seemed to have some doubt as to whether or not I was fit enough, but although really hard due to a then present foot injury. I went out of my way to prove to him and his team that I was. I've had all the tests now, MUGA heart scan, function and fitness tests, Pet CT scan, MRI's, endoscopy ultrasound, and many more.
Yesterday, I had an appointment with the gastroenterologist who originally found the hardening in my gullet and broke the news to me it was a cancer, not an ulcer as maybe suspected originally. He is a WONDERFUL consultant who I have 100% trust in, as well as I do the whole team and everybody I have seen so far. But, he has warned me that no doubt there might be a dosage increase with the chemo I am currently taking with more scans to come. I told him about an exercise bike I bought to keep up my fitness, it's a waste of money. I been peddling away now for a couple of days, and puffing like a Scotsman in the wind - that damm bike hasn't moved an inch !
I have lot's of questions all written down and will find out the answers this afternoon.
