Things will seem a little better once you both know what the treatment will be. Once treatment starts then it's onwards and upwards.

    Waiting is always the hardest.

    Hi Tigger,

If the tests where just done there is no way he can say for Sure its Cancer until he gets the test results back. So just hold your horses until then.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xxx

    Hello there,

First of all my very best wishes to your mum at what must be a very difficult time. I hope that she is not suffering any discomfort from the proceedure. This is also very hard for you I know, but you are supporting your mum and helping her all you can and we are here for you if you need us.

A colposcopy is usually carried out to investigate abnormalities on a smear test and enables the doctor to get a magnified look at the cervix and surrounding area and take a biopsy.

I don't know how they can say for sure that it is cancer until the results are in (and not sure how they can specify womb cancer from this !) It might be just  a case of some abnormal cells that may need a minimum of treatment  so try not to imagine the worst.

Has your mum been given any information leaflets or a number to ring if she has any questions? Waiting is always hard but once you get the results  you will know what you are dealing with , so try to stay positive and you will get through tnis.

Love and best wishes to you both,

                                           lizzie xx

    hi,

many thanks to you all for your replies.  I too was amazed to find that she had been told that she has womb cancer from a smear test.  I have spoken to a few nurses from helplines and they say it is very rare but it can happen.  So when we went to the hospital yesterday for the colposcopy mum asked the doctor if she had cancer and he looked at the report and he said yes,  He was doing biopsy to see how far it had spread and we was too go to the hospital next week for the results and we would discuss treatment.  all very strange, i know we just have to wait until next week but its all very scary and especially when people are telling you its rare so automatically i am  thinking the worst.

    thanks you all once again

    Hi Tigger

So sorry to hear about your mum, have you any further news yet?

The Macmillan web site is really helpful for learning about symptoms, stages, treatment, side effects etc.  It tells you how it can be without too much technical stuff.

Stick close to your Mum, I expect she'll need lots of hugs unless she's in shock & wants to be left alone.

    Best wishes

    Smiling Deb
