still positive

Less than one minute read time.
I am a retired nurse used to care for the terminally ill. so I know what can happen. I am very positive since I got over my first week of chemo. this 2nd time was much better having had my anti emetics changed, also treating myself with various things I am also trained in the use of essential oils so I massaged feet with ginger.and have been wearingg sea bands. Today I had a wig trim as my hair is very thin now it was timed well. I have been wearing cold cap so i still have hair a present.

    Hello

Glad your chemo is going well and the anti emetics are doing their job.  I've heard of eating ginger or drinking a ginger drink to help with nausea, but hadn't thought of using ginger oil - does it work?  When do you massage your feet before or after?  I've had one dose of Epi - I am eostrogen receptive - and am trying the cold cap.  So far no hair loss, which I am absolutely amazed at and am sure it won't last, so like you will get my wig soon - debating on whether to go red, blonde or curly!!

I think nice treats are important in keeping positive and making yourself feel good - so treat yourself whenever you feel like it.

    Sending you best wishes

    Love Carol x

Hi Haze - glad you're finding this chemo easier than your last lot. I loved the bit about massaging your feet with ginger - sounds really good, and I may even give it a go for myself - thanks for the tip! I don't have any problems with my hair as it's flown the coop. The chemotherapy got it first time, then when chemo finished, it started to grow in again quite nicely - when radiotherapy to the head left me like a rather large boiled egg (from the head upwards of course, lol) Long may you hold on to your hair, and I hope your future treatments all go like a dream, with lotsa love           kate xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I used ginger essential oil mixed with sweet almond oid a 1% solution eg 4 drops of essential oil to 20 mls of almond oil or you could use sunflower oil or aqueous cream or aloe vera gel that can penitrate the skin.    I also had sea bands on, but I also had my antisickness drugs added to by odansetron 2 x daily for three days so I do not no what really helped but I was not sick a little nauseated occasionally but I pressed on the sea bands and took deep breaths and it passed.
