Unprepared

Less than one minute read time.

I'm surprised at the shock I feel at being diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus and ashamed at how sorry for myself I feel. My world has stopped, yet all around me life goes on as if nothing has happened. My brother remains too busy to pop round and he still does't respond to phone messages. I want someone to hold me but there is no-one.

I have my positive moments but most of the time I'm scared to death.

Such natural, honest and wholly understandable feelings Harvey; and the courage to express them here and similarly on forum. Stay here and make full use of this caring community to get some much needed support. How are the rabbits doing ......have you made the arrangements you wanted ?

  • Hi Harvey

Please don’t think you’re alone whilst on this site as there are people that have been through what you are facing, so we understand completely how you feel.  Diagnosis of cancer is a huge shock and of course you need to talk with someone about it, so that’s why we are here for you.  Also, you should call the nurses on this site as they will be able to offer you some practical and emotional help and support.  These early days of tests are probably some of the worst because we sit around worrying and waiting all the time.  Nothing is blacker than an overactive imagination.  If you want to send me a pm, then feel free to do so.

Try not to worry because you’ll make yourself feel much worse.  Once you have the  results, then your team will be working to ensure you get the best and right sort of care.

I hope that your brother gets in touch soon and that you can find help with your pets.  Perhaps you could talk to your local vets about their short term care in the near future.

    Love and Hugs

    Crystal xx
