here we go again.

Less than one minute read time.

Didn't I say my holidays are a disaster.  Just come back from my hospital appointment for blood results ready for last session of chemo next week.  Last month (the day I came back) the CA125 had gone up 12, this month it has gone up to 617, and that is on treatment!  The doctor listened to me saying I thought things were not right, but he didn't have the results, just said have the chemo then the regular post chemo CT scan, come back in 6 weeks.  I insisted he got the blood results, and he didn't change the treatment when he saw the results, but he was only a registrar, so is it worth me having 5 days of chemo next week when it is not doing anything?   Do I push for an earlier scan, but then the Oncolgist will only say, put off treatment as long as you can.  Trouble is I know it is a fast growing cancer, and it could do a lot in 6 weeks.

Where do I go from here?

Hi Badger Sorry your results are not good. Are you still having caelyx? I had that and my Ca125 didnt seem to be coming down then later we found it was working, so l think it takes a long time to work. When l had finished treatment it was still coming down three months later. I know its odd but its true look at my blogs. I do know that my cancer is slower growing than yours but l hope it works for you.

    Hi Rosie,

No I'm not on Caelyx, that was 2 drugs ago..... I'm on Topotecan.  My count started going down but when up slighty after treatment 4, and today's result was after 5.

Don't know whether it is worth having no 6 next week.  5 days travelling 25 miles each way, if it is not working?

Hopefully I will hear from the hospital tomorrow.

    Love n hugs

    Hi Badger,

Try and take heart from Rosie;s experience.  I know it is very hard x.  Can you phone your main Oncologist and express what you feel.

    Hugs ,

    Solent xxxx

  • I wrote on here last night but it isnt on here today so Viv I repeat --you can always phone your Macmillan nurse for help and ask her what you should  do and get her to sort it out. -but I would have Chemo next week and push for an earlier scan and take it from there. You do have to give Chemo time to work as it builds up and starts working

    Good Luck anyway xxx
