My story up to my chemo beginning to give you the background.

15/03/24 - I was 56 years old, now just turned 57. I was called in for my old man cholesterol and blood tests. Reluctantly I went to the docs. During the chat. I mentioned that my Dad had prostrate cancer whether the same age as me. It had been cured. And as another side story he lived till 85 and died of old age! Anyway I said “do you think I should have one of those PSA tests i read about, i recently read the story of Bill Turnbull, the breakfast presenter who’d died of PCa. Anyway the docs response was “you can, but maybe you don’t was to worry yourself unnecessarily!” Anyway i said “I think I’ll have one anyhow” as it turned out it saved my life!

21/03/24 call from the surgery. “Your PSA score is a bit high, we’d like you to go for a CT scan” 

28/03/24 CT scan 

16/04/24 results day, Initial diagnosis after a PSA blood test score of 111 and the subsequent CT scan. The diagnosis was Advanced prostrate cancer with spread to lymph nodes, further tests planned. Shattering news. The most helpful person that day and ever since has been the Mc Millan specialist nurse. They are angels Innocent 

26/04/24 Bone scan - 01/05/24 results Bone scan clear.

30/04/24 Biopsy 

20/05/24 Biopsy results grading and staging are: 

T3b N1 M1a

Cancer in my prostrate and local lymph nodes 3 x Mets lilac lymph’s upper pelvis, no where else! No bone mets that can be seen. 

gleeson score 8 (4+4) 

02/06/24

Specialist cancer nurse arranged for a PSA test to put my mind at rest that the Zoladex was actually working result 1.97 down from 111 in 5 weeks, happy days and a bottle cracked open! 

12/06/24

After a painful wait for an appointment finally saw the oncologist.

plan is to stay on Zoladex. 6 cycles of Chemo (docetaxel) then after that 4 weeks of radiotherapy. 20 sessions. This is where we begin…
