I saw the oncologist yesterday. Charming man, very tall and difficult to follow his speech as he talks very fast and wishes to communicate so much information that his words become convoluted.
The outcome was that I am on the correct treatment for my stage of the disease. My symptoms from the bicalutamide may improve so that I am less tender on the chest. If and when the metastases in my pelvic bones cease to be controlled there are other drugs that can be tried. The Stampede trial was mentioned but I was not entered into it at this time.
Tiredness from bicalutamide seems to have worn off and I am walking better than I was a week ago. I still have hip aches on bending to the floor but much less that a week ago. Bless the decapentyl!
Advised to stop bicalutamide after second week of overlap with the injection and have my PSA rechecked at the time of my second decapentyl injection, (thereafter one injection every 12 weeks).
OK so far, feeling well and reasonably energetic. Very little analgesia required and I may be able to stop it for a while. We shall see. I am so lucky and my thoughts are often with others I read about who are having a more difficult time. Bless you all.
