3 Wheels on my Wagon

1 minute read time.

-But I'm still rolling along.

Saw my urologist today for a routine update. But I have been much worse with pain the last 24 hrs. Told him all my symptoms and finished up on the couch for an examination, -not PR fortunately.

I have a painful left hip, a very weak left leg that won't bear weight and a tender liver edge. Sent straight off for hip/pelvic xrays and blood tests. My urologist came and talked over the Xray results as he was on his way to operate in the same hospital

The urologist says the decapentyl injections have not controlled my pelvic weeds and I have a pathological fracture of my left pubic ramus, -hence the pain and weakness.  I am to go back on the bicalutamide tabs that worked so well in May & June this year.  The blood tests and a CT scan will sort out what else is going on. Also he is referring me to the oncologist for radiotherapy to the secondary that caused the fracture.

I'm a great denyer and I feel relieved at the moment to know why I suddenly can't get about and do things. I suppose I must be a crazy optimist but somehow I think it will get better or that we're all talking about someone else. I may finish up in The Room, but just now I feel OK at the keyboard and reading my emails. My wife is very supportive in a sensible way and this helps a lot.  My urologist is the best and we get along together very well.  Wonder how I'll feel tomorrow.

Hi  David,  3 wheels eh ? You must be one of those "Reliants" you know, a bit slow and wobbly and gets tossed about easily in the wind,  but doesn't rust and still around many years after being diagnosed as a Reliant. Take care and make the most of the slow ride, George & Jackie (Breast C forum )

    Hi Dreamthief! (George & Jackie)

Thanks for commenting, what a name you carry!  Perhaps you're too young to know the American country & western song "Three wheels on my Wagon? It tells of an old pioneer heading out West and the Injuns are after him. Three weels left on his wagon but he's still rolling along with the Injuns in pursuit. Then it gets down to two wheels, one wheel and then the Injuns get him.  I feel a bit like that. I still keep going as the bad news comes in, so "Mr C is after me/ things look bad/ but I'm not sad, ...etc

Laughter is still the best medicine.
