Recent Oncology Visit - October 2023

1 minute read time.

A few weeks ago Dal contracted Covid, he was quite ill for a few days but in his normally way, he battled through and I am pleased to say he has recovered well.

In addition Dal has, on occasion had quite severe stomach upsets, there is no known reason, it is something we are trying to find a link for, but overall he has remained very well.

At the beginning of this month Dal had a face to face appointment with his oncologist, and he was reprimanded for not informing the team of his Covid spell, so it is worth remembering, no matter whether he feels he can beat something himself, he must be reminded to advise the MDT, especially because although he looks good, he is still living with a slightly compromised immune system.

Apart from that, all continued tests are good, treatment continues fortnightly and his oncologist seems happy with the ongoing progress. /the throat tumour remains stable, it won't get any better than it is now, but it must be monitored regularly for signs of movement.

Although I think we sometimes take for granted how well Dal is doing, we know that we must remain vigilant, keeping notes of the times when food gets stuck, as it still does on occasion, or any pains that may form in his chest, just because we have been in a clearing for a while, we are not out of the woods.

We hope that he continues in such positive form for a very long time..

Now, nearly three and a half years since original diagnosis, and we know how lucky Dal are to be in the position that he is, and that is all thanks to the brilliant NHS service that continues to watch over and treat him. Thank you!
