Radiotherapy

Less than one minute read time.
Well this has been a strange week I have travelled 60 miles a day round trip to hospital over the course of the week I have had a reproduction of my head made from plaster of paris which is a strange feeling I can assure you. First they give you a bathing cap which makes you look like Kojak and then they make make you look like an egyptian mummy covering you with bandages to form the mould but you have to trust them. Today my new face was complete and again I was injected with dye then a CT scan. Oh what fun being bolted to a table , Hope you have all had a good week. Treatment of chemo and radiotherapy starts in a weeks time. Remember what monty python said ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE DA DA DA DA DA DA DA

What about getting tatooed and then having to have your bare bum manipulated by young female radiographers. Most of the hospital radio team are on intimate terms with my backside, No I wouldn't swap! but I have seen the masks and the frames in the LINAC rooms.

Quite right about the Bright Side

    Keep smiling

Sorry to hear of your experiences.  I was bolted to the radiotherapy table by my face too, so can sympathise, although my mask was made from plastic rather than plaster of paris.  After the first couple of treatments, though, you do get used to it and its all over pretty quickly each time.  One of the radiotherapy guys cut eye holes for me which made it much less enclosing.  Good luck and keep looking on the bright side.
