Hello all,
Dad had his first chemo for SCLC on 4th August, Carboplatin and Etoposide. No side effects apart from the hiccups for a couple of days and loss of taste, again for the couple of days. The antibiotics have cleared up a long sinus issue so he can at least hear better!!
So his appointment was 10.10, xray and bloods first. Mum is going to Spain to pack things up and put their place up for sale, flying from EMA at 1.00 so time is tight. It'll be ok.... 10.25 they announce they are running over an hour late!! So i said mum, get your coat. So off we bomb down the M1, practically threw my mum out the car and bombed back, walked into the clinic just as they called dad's name, phew!! (Hope I don't get a speeding ticket)
Xray shown that the cancer was less dense and he said that the first xray was before chemo so it would have got worse, so a good result there. His blood count was fine, white blood count was holding it's own. He said that dad can expect the same with the next chemo, i.e. being relatively well throughout so it was all good. He said he's not out of the woods yet but it's going in the right way. More blood tests next week, and then a CT after cycle 3. Got a prescription for sleeping pills cos he is not sleeping, so dad felt good coming out (for once!!).
So today is a good day :) xx
