Update

Less than one minute read time.

I am now 38 years old now and it is 2 years since i had my operation so only another 3 years to go before I get what they call the all clear.

I have had a bad week last week when i found out my friend's cancer had come back and this scared me and shook my already low esteem and self confidence.

But on a good note managed to do my tandem parachute jump today a complete adrenalin rush and feel better for it and got the dvd and photos to prove it!!  x

Hi Doona, I was 37 when I was diagnosed with bc just over 6 years ago.  I believe I have beat this dreadful disease.  My dad was diagnosed with cancer in February this year and passed away at the beginning of April.

This has got me a bit paranoid again about cancer returning.  Like you I feel a bit shaken, but I suppose I will just have to deal with it the best I can.

Well done on the parachute jump.  I wish I had the bottle to do that, but know it's something I never will.

    Best wishes, Christine xx

well done for doing your parachute jump.quite a few things   can set the fear of cancer returning back into your mind but try not to let it take over ,think to yourself that you are a SURVIVOR not a VICTIM to this disease sandraxxxx

  • People who have not had cancer can not begin to understand the lasting psychological effects of a diagnosis. It changes our whole attitude to life and teaches us who are our real friends. Whilst it is sensible to keep an eye on our health it is all too easy to imagine every headache is a brain tumour and indigestion is stomach cancer. Everyone reacts differently - there are those who become almost paranoid, whilst others just close the door and put it firmly in the past. You do what is right for YOU - if you feel unwell please go and check it out with your GP.

    Best wishes,

    Hello Doona,

As Kate says unless you've been through it you can't understand what it feels like to hear the words breast cancer.

Live your life the best way for you and there will be ups and downs that's normal for everyone.

If you are worried about anything that is new for you then go to your GP they will understand and should be able to put your mind at rest. Don't sit at home worrying, you can always talk to us here and we will all try to help you as much as we can.

    I wish you well.

    Vee. xx

    Hi Doona,

Well done with your para jump, sound like you really enjoy it.

Just like you have enjoyed the past two yrs, dont sit worrying about whats going to happen in the next

three years or the five yrs after that. My consultant told me after the five yrs if I notice or feel anything different to give his secretary a ring and we would arrange an appointment.that was six yrs ago and Im still in remission.Long may it last.

So try to stop worrying and enjoy life.

Take care and be safe Big HUGS. Love sarsfieldxx
