National Love Your Pet Day is observed on February 20th each year. It's a day to set aside some extra time to show your pets how much they mean to you and to reflect on the positive impact they have on your life.
To celebrate all pets associated with the Online Community, we invite members to share a photo or story of their pet on the Community this week. You can share in your existing forums or pop over to our 'Animals are family too' forum and join in the conversations.
We have also prepared a quick 'this or that' interactive game for some pet-related fun. Would you prefer to be curled up cosily like a cat, or bound round a field with other canine friends? Make your votes to see how you compare to the rest of the Community.
If you have pets, or have photos or stories about special animals in your life, you can share them with others in our Animals are family too forum. If you're not already a member, you can join the forum by clicking in the banner. We'd love to hear from any of you who feel comfortable sharing pet photos or stories.
In a previous blog, 'The importance of our pets during our cancer journey' Community member and champion Jane2511 talked about what her cats mean to her. Lots of Community members responded to the blog to share their own photos and stories.
As a Community team, we are also big pet lovers. Many of us feel that our pets support us in our roles here at Macmillan and we understand that animals can be important members of a family. In case you would like to know more about the animals connected to the Community team, I shared a photo and a little story about one of my cats here in the Animals are family too forum. If you'd like to see more team pets, do let us know by commenting on the thread.
We would love you to share your pets photos and stories as we understand what comfort animals can bring to our lives.
Now for a little bit of fun to see how the Community feels about pets. Make your votes to see how you compare to the rest of the Community.
Would you rather be curled up cosily or bounding round a field with a ball? Or is it impossible to choose between the two because you love both cats and dogs?
Love them or loathe them, lots of people have unusual pets. I wonder how many Community members have an unusual pet.
Are you adventurous and outgoing or more of the caring type? Or does the farming life not appeal to you at all?
What would your pet-related super power be? Gliding through water like a fish, or through the air like a bird. Or perhaps your superpower involves staying firmly on land?
What do rabbits and guinea pigs even think about? Which would be the most interesting to mind read?
We hope you have enjoyed this small piece of of light-hearted content. Once you have taken the quiz, why not comment below, or pop over to the Animals are family too forum to share something, or see what others are sharing.
