Feeling scared

Less than one minute read time.

I saw the consultant yesterday and he told me that he is running out of treatment options. I am about to have No 6 of gemcarbo and he is talking about having weekly taxol as next line. He also told me that he thinks I have months to live not years. But he didn't say a number. I don't know what to think now. I don't feel ready to die, I hope it might be more than 12 months but who knows it could be 3 or 4. One minute I feel ok and the next I am in tears, I haven't told my children yet as one of them is doing her GCSEs. They both seem so happy at the moment and I don't want to spoil that for them. If anyone can give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated. I am due to finish my current chemo over the next two weeks then have a CT scan before I go back on the 15th July.

Hi Catherine, so sorry your results are not good. Your Consultant wont tell you how long because they dont know! We are all different in how we react to the chemos, also we cope with things in different ways so there are no definates. When you have finished your chemo does not mean that your going to die straight away, it just means that they can not offer you any more treatment. You can then just get your life back and do what you feel able to do. I have been living with Ovarian cancer for 10 yrs. I have been lucky my cancer is slow growing. I have another two chemos they can try. All the very best to you, love Rosie

    Hi Catherine,

You dont have to take your Consultants prediction as gospel. If your not happy then ask for a second opinion.

I was told 13 yrs ago I had 3 yrs to live at the most if that.

Well I can assure you its not a ghost typing this comment . Im Still here.  All the best and good luck dont ever give up.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xx

    Hi Catherine,

As others have said, nobody, not even your consultant, knows how long you may have. I can understand you are feeling scared and upset because I am in a similar situation. However, the positive thing is that you are being offered more treatment after the current one has finished. The CT scan may show better results than you think so, although it is hard, try to feel more positive.

Please keep in touch and never give up hope.

            Lots of love,

               lizzie xx
