Throat;Difficulty swallowing and choking

1 minute read time.

Hi again; Just getting this out. Before I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I had some problems with swallowing, which I though may be related to the two discs at top of spine, maybe one was pressing forward, or it was thyroid or something else. I had also been diagnosed with Oestiopenia 3 months before the Cancer. T scor -2.4 and Z score - 1.73. Went to docs, got antibiotics twice for viral infection re streptoccoci; sent to ENT where nothing could be found. I was asked whether I had my tonsils out, which I have not.

During Chemo (FEC) Mouth and my throat got very dry, ulcers occurred at I found it difficult to swallow even more, so got a smoothie maker as well as Difflam and Gelclair from the hospital.

I am through all my Chemo and now awaiting date of mastectomy etc, throat getting worse, so back to doctor, more antibiotics again. Went to dentist, getting new dentures to help me and the throat ulcers are going down slowly, but my swallowing is getting worse.Choking on slightest thing from a sugar grain to a pea.

Went back to doctors today, asked what is happening and choking bouts getting more frequent.

Doctor sending me back to ENT for further investigations, advised me that my oestiopenia could be dealt with after the Cancer which was more of a priority at the moment.

Although I know that the small hairs in nose and even the tiny protective hairs  in throat lining may have been lost due to the chemo, my bronchial is so sensitive to sprays, dust, and even smoke plus smoke from the coal fire.

Has anyone else suffered from this? Wish and hope I get answers before I get the operation date.......... just another worry, but been going on too long.  If I keep getting antibiotics like I am I will get immune to them and they won't work.

    Hi Carrot Tops,

Just stay with it for the moment, the choking can be caused sometimes by anxiety or Panic attacks. But

thats just my opinion and may have nothing to do with the choking. Wait until they sort out the treatment for your Cancer and you will have a better idea then. All the Best and Good Luck.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xxx
