2 steps forward and 3 back

Less than one minute read time.
OK bit of a whinge coming. Why is that 4 weeks after surgery when everything was going well and I had acheived good arm movement/recovery, and feeling positive about returning to work on Mon, albeit possibly briefly - am I suddenly experiencing a tightness in my chest wall and ribcage. Its been so uncomfortable today that I haven't wanted to do anything but slob in front of the TV and I have demolished 2 bacon butties, 3 mini Crunchies, some licorice allsorts (well suppose they do have a positive outcome) and small packet of cola bottles plus dinner. I had 500ml seroma drained on Thurs (5th time) and expected to feel "deflated" and I am glad less fluid is accumulating - but I didn't expect this tightness and feel as though I have less arm movement now and will have to starting waving my arm around like the queen mum directing traffic again. Ok whinge over - going to make a big cuppa tea and have a nice bath with loadsa bubbles - if I can get in and out of the bath that is. ;))) love to all Carolxx

    Hi Carol,

I think we are all entitled to a little, or even a big winge every now and then as the journey we are on will involve lots of up and downs. Persevere with the exercises and I am sure it will right itself in the end.

    Take care,

Thank you, I think the tea and a good sleep helped; and I am realising that I need to pace myself.  I obviously did too much on Friday and am not as recovered as I thought.  I think the tightness, is probably a good sign that I'm healing and things are settling - plus where my breast was sometimes has an itch - only thing is I can locate it!!!!!

    Take care

That tightness is the scar tissue forming, so if you needed an excuse to keep those exercises going then this is it!  I also had great movement immediately post surgery, but now almost 16 months later I've got some cording and can't stretch as much as I used to.  Those exercises are for life I'm afraid.

In the mean time, keep up with the chocolate and bubble baths.  And lots and lots of TLC.  :)

Wow an excuse to eat chocolate and laze in the bath for ages, must admit the bath and some magic aromatherapy cream did help. I'll keep on with the exercises, and I think I have a bit of cording on my rib cage, feels like a pair of braces under the skin, shame its not helping with gravity!!

Thanks for the advice and kind comments.
