Lung cancer hope

1 minute read time.

Hi my husband was told he had lung cancer that spread to his chest lymph nodes nearly 2 years ago and was told it was at stage 3 and operation is not an option we can not get rid of it we can just control it. He had first chemo then before the last 2 sessions he started radio therapy for 7 weeks 5 days aweek and was told its gone well done!!!!!!!!! but there is a little something we are not sure of so after many CT scans xray and a PET scan and a brochoscopy they were still not sure, his oncologist said, it may be pus but I think it is cancer and the best way to get rid of this hot spot is removal,we were quite shocked as we understood he couldnt have an operation but went ahead with it on the 2 nd June 2010 and they removed the bottom lobe of his right lung and a tube .it all went well and according to plan .Had the follow up yesterday to the surgeon and had an xray first, they said its gone no sign in the nodes etc so after nearly 3 years of battling some good news,I cant say its been easy but it may give someone hope by reading this and if anyone would like to ask any questions I have kept a diary of events so I should be able to answer most questions all the best Carol

    Hi Jujuc,

I wont argue the point. Im only telling you what my Consultant told me when I asked him after my 5 yrs.

I asked him if I was clear of any of the 3 types of Cancer I had ,and he said to me there is no such thing as being clear of Cancer, it will always be in your body we dont know why or when or where but it

still there, that is why your in remission, and will be

until it comes back. Then your treatment will start all over again.Sorry.

So there you go jujuc. Thats the facts as I know them.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xxx.

Thank you all and to Sarsfield I never said he was in remission I do know the basics of CANCER especially lung cancer there are no guarantees even after 5 years all I said we were told " IT HAS GONE" and believe me this is as good as its going to get, when you have been told more or less there is not much hope ,all I wanted to do is pass on a little bit of hope to those who have just been told they have LUNG CANCER or any other cancer there is light at the end of the tunnel all the best to everyone Carol

    Carol thats fantastic news.

My mum has lung cancer and was also told it was inoperable. She is having chemo at the moment and apart from a few days of feeling really low she is doing well. Do you mind telling me what hospital your husband was treated at?
