Session 10 - 20 sessions remaining

2 minute read time.
Another strawberries and cream milk shake to start my day and a catch up with one of my friends ... Then it was time to head for my treatment. Afterwards I started to feel a little pre-fatigued (genuine 'get me out of here real soon' fatigue) while doing the Tesco shop and once I got home I took advantage of Mariella being at a friends house for tea .... I had 30 mins rest and snooze. While the 30 mins did leave me feeling I could go for a run, the fatigue fog did lift. I am finding that the pain relief is becoming more necessary at 4.5 hour intervals as the pain is starting to creep up on me around this time so I pop two more paracetamols and the pain is kept at bay. My right salivary gland is now failing gradually so I am keeping up my liquid intake and using Oralief more frequently (3 times or so each day). Oh, I took with me my recently GP-prescribed Cetraben. I think my GP is trying her absolute utmost to be really kind to me and she thought this would be a nicer alternative to the aqueous cream. I wanted to check with the Radiography team as to its suitability (following the advice given at my Tuesday afternoon clinic appointment). It turns out that there is an ingredient that seems this emollient unproven and inadvisable for use during the Radiotherapy. So, I will hang onto it until treatment concludes. The Radiographer who was talking with me spent time reassuring me that their methods over the last 12 months have improved quite radically and the impact has been that skin damage has dramatically reduced. She was very reassuring on this .... So maybe my face will continue to have the appearance of sunburn and not deteriorate (externally at least) to dramatically .... Or is this me being overly optimistic?? I am ever the optimist!! The weekend beckons, and I have just managed to arrange a back massage for tomorrow tea-time ..... Mmmm can't wait. I just hope it is going to be pure 'no taking' relaxation .... But my therapist has become a friend and knows my situation, so I am confident she will let me zone out for the 30 mins or so. I will be back here again on Monday with an update for the weekend and Monday's treatment. BronB xx
