Recovery day 4 - sore but less tired today

3 minute read time.
I am now 4 days into my recovery. It is bank holiday after Easter and I wanted to go to Bletchley Park with my husband and daughter. The forecast was nice and we haven't been before (and it is 8 miles away!). After waking up and having my usual Ready Brek for breakfast I showered and then cleaned my face. Plenty of 'goo' seemed to come off with each gentle wipe. I managed to get it fairly clean looking except the ear split at the bottom of my ear lobe. I used only a dry swab on this part today, as I think using a wet swab yesterday caused too much scab to come away and today's result didn't look pretty. I can honestly say that I am looking forward to seeing the nurse at my doctors surgery in the morning. I want to ask about how I cam best clean the area and whether it is better to dry out the yellow bubble type scabs (they aren't bubbles any longer, but originally looked as though they were going to be) .... Or should I keep this area moisturised? I have no idea what is best. On the ear front, I am still struggling to hear through my right ear and it feels swollen inside and fluid filled. I continue to take the antibiotics and will follow up again with my consultant on Thursday. The inside of my mouth remains sore, but the big bubble ulcer that developed yesterday from 2 smaller ulcers inside of my top lip seems to have gone today. I feel this has been quite a successful recovery on the ulcer front .... May be due to oral hygiene coupled with my vitamin D daily intake .... Either way I was happy if had gone because it looked as though I had a thick lip. My tongue is still sore on the right hand side .... And I still have no taste. My daughter had a packet of pickled onion monster munch today (my favourites) .... I didn't eat one while we're out, but I DID EAT ONE PICKLED ONION MONSTER MUNCH at home. I did it very gingerly, one toe at a time, on the better side of my mouth chewing until it had totally dissolved before swallowing it down my sore throat. I couldn't taste it and I managed to swallow it without trauma..... But in the absence of nutritional benefit (or, lets face it, the lovely flavour and the ability to suck it until it has all dissolved, which is the only way to eat Monster Munch) I have no desire to eat another. Before this entire entry revolved around Monster Munch, lets talk pain relief. It remains the same - paracetamol and ibuprofen at regular intervals by day and a little morphine before bedtime once I have used up the maximum dose of para and ibu. Fatigue? Today hasn't been too bad .... After 5 hours out of the house I felt decidedly tired so we came back. Yesterday's fatigue levels were greater and I did very little (as the state of the house can evidence). It is 7pm and I am feeling ready for bed in the next hour or so. One more day of the Easter holidays and my little one goes back to school..... Although she has been with lots of other people over the past couple of weeks while I was having my treatment every day, I am going to miss having her around. She is the most thoughtful and helpful 6 year old I know and she brings joy to everything she does and everyone she meets. Just like the period actresses at Bletchley Park today - she gave them joy.
