Today is Saturday (the Easter weekend) and my last treatment was on Thursday. Thursday night I managed to get to see Derren Brown at the theatre which took a 4 hour afternoon snooze so I was able to stay awake.
Yesterday (Good Friday) we did nothing religious, instead visiting a friends alpaca farm for an hour. My mum has returned home for a week and so my husband is keeping the RT site clean. Anyway, Friday I managed to be awake for six hours and the rest of the time I slept .... I'm a big believer in doing what my body asks and sleep being a healer.
Today, Saturday is day 2 of recovery and day 3 of antibiotics prescribed in case my ear is infected (Clarythromycin to accommodate my penicillin allergy). After a soak in the bath I soaked the treated area for a few minutes with a flannel and boiled, cooled water.y husband has photographed my radiated tongue and my horribly burnt and scabby (??) face. I didn't realise it looked this bad, and the greenish gunge inside my ear is not visible to anyone - the camera has done and excellent job of picking it up. I am still waiting for the swab results and, of course, it is the longest bank holiday weekend and so a rubbish wait for a swab taken last Tuesday!
We have just tried putting on Aloe Vera gel for the first time today. A patch has stung like buggery, but now sea to have subsided. I hope this is going to help.
I will sign off for Easter, because I have an egg hunt to prepare for a six year old. Happy Easter everyone ..... X
Hello Bron ... you are getting there, albeit slowly, so hang on in there ! Yes, your poor skin looks very angry at the moment but it will heal and I hope those antibiotics do some good, too. Keep up with the mouth rinses and oral care as best you can with the radiation burns ... it will get better.
