5 weeks into recovery from RT

1 minute read time.
I will keep this really brief because I have a phone counselling session in sever minutes (and it is thundering outside!!) Since I last wrote I have seen my ENT consultant .... He prescribed Otomize (steroid And antibiotic spray for my ear). Today I am celebrating because I can hear in stereo again ... I cannot describe the pleasure and after my counselling session I am going to be listening to some lovely music! I am still taking paracetamol and up until Tuesday of this week I was also adding in ibuprofen at the end if each day .... But because I have started on antidepressants (Lustral 25mg per day for first week increasing to 50mg next week), it has been necessary to stop the ibuprofen in order to protect my stomach. It seems I can manage without the ibuprofen. In terms of my mouth, it is still sore and I cannot taste yet. I had a mouth ulcer burst and there was a lot of blood in the sink after brushing my teeth, however it continues to improve. Emotionally, well you can see I took for step of getting antidepressants for the first time in my life. This was a really big step for me, but I recognised that I need a little more help - maybe my body can't do everything by itself. They will take a few weeks to kick in and I continue to feel teary at the moment. We go away on Saturday to our usual place in St Ives .... I can't wait to spend some family time. Oh, and I nearly forgot to add, the Purple One (Prince) was a-ma-zing!!

Hello Bron ... so glad that your hearing is back to stereo and you can enjoy the music - including 'Purple Rain' ?   : )

Yes, I can really sympathise with the sore mouth and totally understand depression ... even after almost six years I find it can come back in waves. But you have dome something positive about it and so it's onwards and upwards !

So I wish you all the best for further recovery and enjoy your family time in St Ives x

Well done hun, you are doing really well. It can take a few months to get over RT and our bodies need time to fully recover. How marvellous you can hear again! Love Prince, I bet his concert was brill. Hang on in there hun, don't worry about the tears. They are just your body releasing all the emotions. I cried my way through all my treatment, and beyond! Still do! Have a great time in Cornwall. I send you lots of sparkly love and strength xxx
