Life expectancy

Less than one minute read time.

Hi everyone, just wanted to ask a quick question about peoples life expectancy.

My mum got diagnosed with lung cancer in April last year and only got given 12 months which was a major shock! I just wanted to know if other peoples life expectancy diagnoses was realistic. I dont think I have worded this very well but it sounds right in my head, crazy I know!

Thanks for taking the time to read this x

    Hi Becsx2,

If its any help I was supposed to have died 8yrs ago

and as you can see im still here and will be until Im ready. I dont like People telling me when and how Im going to kick the bucket.

Have a look at my Profile and you will see what I mean.

Take Care and Be Safe. Love to your Mum.xx

    hi sarsfield, a great reply....

i try and tell all the new users who come on and say they were diagnosed and told straight away they only have 12 months...or a year to 2 years not to worry to much because the specialists are not god....i have met quite a few people who were suppose to have died months or years ago...

when you was first diagnosed did they give you a se number of months straight away ?

its just that most people i have met in hospitals couldnt get there specialists to give a time length straight away...when i was bad my specialist just said how long is a piece of string....

i often think well how can a specialist say straight off before treatments even been tried...

maybe its just the specialists i have seen that dont seem to want to start setting time lengths to early...

hey sarsfield....youl be here for years yet you wait and see.....

in answer to the original question, i dont think anyone can give an answer because everyone is different....m friend skipper was not expected to die for a long time yet.....only he did...and others may be given a set time yet they live far longer....

in my opinion its best just to enjoy everyday we can...and allways remember....a fit heaalthy person can die at anytime....no one ever knows ..

Hi Becsx2,everyone is different, lots of

people live well over the time they were

told, even years, Some people give up,

then again it depends on how far the

cancer has gone into other parts of the

body. All i can say to you Becs take one

day at a time, dont worry about tomorrow

or next week just make the most of each

day with your mum. If things get hard or

you want to sound off then this is the

place to come, you will find many friends here who will support you.
