Any support appreciated!

1 minute read time.

This is my first time on one of these boards so hope I am doing it right?! After a heavy bleed in April of this year I was finally diagnosed with Stage 3a CC in May. My planning scan showed an enlarged kidney so I was admitted for a stent to be fitted. Unfortunately it went wrong and instead of coming out the same day, I ended up in hospital for 2.5 weeks! This delayed my treatment but finally started my 5.5 weeks of radio and chemo therapy in June. Reacted quite badly to both as my tumour was so low down. Spent many days in bed just too exhausted to move and in too much pain. Barely managed to drag myself out of bed to the car for the 1 hour journey for treatment. Finally finished this treatment so had a couple of "free" days before my last stage of treatment began. This had to be carried out at another specialist hospital again because of the location of my tumour. Unfortunately when inserting the rods for the bracytherapy a needle was broken inside of me so I was transferred via ambulance to another hospital. Despite 2.5 hours of searching they were unsuccessful at locating the needle and so it remains inside of me and I was transferred back to the original hospital to complete my treatment. Unbelievably when removing the rods a bleed was caused resulting in yet another urgent transfer to the other hospital where I remained for 4 days. They eventually put a stitch in and I was allowed home. Since returning home I have had recurring infections and am still suffering side effects from the treatments. As a result I was taken back to hospital for an examination under sedation. The result of this is that some of the tumour remains. I have now been told that my ony hope is to have a radical hysterectomy. However I am only eligible for this if my tumour has not spread any further. I have 2 children aged 3 and 7 and a wonderful, supportive husband who I can not bear to leave. I am waiting for an urgent scan and will basically know within 1 week whether I am going to die! I am absolutely terrified and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through this and come out the other side.

What an exceptionally terrible time you have had - but then we all have had in different ways. You don't need to pluck up courage to come on here - we don't bite. Well some of us do but not each other! Use the site for advice, expereinces and companionship. We haven't got all the answers but between us we have got a lot of them. Good luck with your scan.

    Keep smiling

    love
