Almost four weeks after catheter removal.

Less than one minute read time.

I was not leaking very much over the past few weeks usually dry all night, also during the morning up until three in the afternoon. Last night my no leaking during the evening stopped. I have been using level two pads, woke up to damp underpants the urine had leaked through the side. Not sure why I leaked after 4 weeks of being good. I will just have to keep an eye on it. The only thing I can think that’s changed is my exercises, I started using more force perhaps I have overdone it, I will have a day off.

On the subject of pelvic floor exercises, I have been doing sets of ten six times a day, I like to lay down on the bed when I do them it helps me feel the muscles contract.

  • Hope to start pelvic exercises after catheter is removed,  how long after did you start ? I was hoping the leaking wouldn't be an issue but just being optimistic I guess.

  • I started a couple of days after removal. The catheter had irritated the end of my penis so I was a little sore.
You should expect good and not so go days. I think I have just been trying to do to much, a bit impatient.

Hi Jan5 I have had a catheter no for six months due to advanced prostrate cancer which has spread to my seminal vestiges and lymph nodes. I went for a catheter trial on March 11th and failed it miserably a new one was inserted and I am due a change on 11th June, the first one settled down really well but this one I have had infection after infection, the last time I was admitted to A&E by ambulance  high on morphine. The A&E doctor told me it was a dirty catheter which I told him I was thorough with my hygiene he asked how long it had been in and when I told him he said it should be changed more regularly. I have no date for another catheter trial I just wondered if you fail one then that is it.  These infections are painful and draining and put me in a low mood  through lack of sleep and loss of exercise I try to run every other day  to build my energy levels and also lift my mood, I am doing a 10 k run in July  in aid of Macmillan so I need all the energy and support I can get, I was hoping to be rid of my catheter bu then but it’s not looking promising. Like you I have good and bad days, the good days are running days, these would hit the jackpot without the catheter and ball and chain strapped to my leg. How long was it till you got to be able to pee properly again?

    1. Impatience is my middle name and have already been told off by the missus for doing too much in the garden resulting in a bit of blood in bag . The glans penis is a little sore but coping well with a little bit of steroid cream. I do have a fair amount of leakage bypassing the catheter  when moving around  but pads dealing with it . Thanks for the updates,  take care.

  • Hi Kit, I only had the catheter in for twelve days. The first seven days were fine, no pain at all, I went walking and really those first days were good, I was even thinking this is not so bad, then not sure what happened but I could just not get the tube into a comfortable place, I was so glad when it was removed.
