Hi Everyone,

I was diagnosed with Breast cancer on 22.12.10. I am half way through my first chemo session, this week is my no immunity week so i'm curled up on the sofa away from the world and its bugs lol......Having 3 x FEC followed by 3x TAX,  Side effects of FEC are not nice but i have managed to go to work twice and spent a day working at home.

I've totally lost my sense of taste and my hair is falling out in clumps, my worst side effect tho is the blurred vision and would like to know if others on FEC have experienced this, when it happens i feel like a little old lady unable to do anything .......oh yeah and for the record i'm only 43 lol !!!!!!

Anyway i've made a start on my blog, hopefully it may help others and may also help me in the long run having somewhere to sound off so's to speak

Best wishes

Annie

    Hi Annie,

Iam sorry to hear your treatment is causing you some nasty side effects. Just   try and be patient I know its easy to say but harder to do. All the best and good luck.

    Hi Annie,

Chemo does take some getting used to doesn't it? I didn't have FEC had E-CMF but also had vision problems on the CMF part. My eyes became very wet and this caused vision problems. I told my chemo nurse about it and strangely enough it is because the tears become less wet... No, i don't understand it either. The upshot was I get some artificial tears which helped the situation a bit.

    Take care

Hi Annie, I had the same chemo as you but did not experiance blurred vision. With Fec i felt very sick but the anti sickness tablets helped and i was very very tired. Tax for me was not so good, i had aches, diahorreha and taste buds went, nails were very sore but managed to save them. Hair fell out after 2 weeks of first session and it falls out at such great speed!!! I got so fed up with it that i shaved it and felt better after that. My friend had the reverse side effect and found FEC hard going but TAX was not so bad for her. Just count down to 5 more to go!!!! You will get there.

    Take care Love Kaz x

Hi I've just had second Tax and first herceptin. I also had 3 cycles of FEC and had same side effects, Really tired and blurred vision, taste buds went had metalic taste in my mouth etc. I started to lose my hair on day 10 after first Fec and had it shaved off on day 12. It's growing back a bit now, not sure if it will last though lol. Tax is different, hit me on 3rd day last time so I'm expecting the same with this one. (mon).

Good luck with all your treatment it really does go quite quick. I have my last chemo on Feb 11th, then 3 weeks of radio therapy and 6-12 months of Herceptin.
