Fertility after my husbands chemotherapy

Less than one minute read time.
Hi, My husband was diagnosed with ALL in 2011 and is coming to the end of his treatment in september. When first diagnosed we went down to the fertility clinic in preparation for having more children after treatment. He spoke to his consultant 2 months ago in regards to getting the ball rolling for extending our family next year which dr said was fine and he would refer us for after treatment but said as his bloods have been so consistent and steady there was no reason why we couldnt 'try' naturally now and see what happened. Our first appointment arrived in the post 3 weeks ago, the following sunday we discovered i was pregnant! We are thrilled and over the moon but im secretly scared, scared for its health and of any hiccups... I cant seem to find many stories online related to this situation so if anyone has any advice, success stories etc it would be hugely appreciated!! Kind regards Sharon

So by the sounds of it the chances of getting pregnant after ALL treatment is very low (I expected as much but your case has given me hope).

Sorry what do you mean one of the meds works against folic acid? We are looking to start trying in December so will start the pregnecare in October probably. Well his consultant is booking us in with a specialist that will tell us the risks etc apparently but that won't be until like October and then in December we go back and they are going to do a sperm count.

Of course only time will tell so fingers crossed all works out fine. When is your next scan?

I will inbox you my email add xx

Hi everyone, sorry for poor updates!! Its been chaos! Firsty how is you uncle doing lou1? Hope hes still keeping strong on his treatment! Is there any progress on your partner and trying for a baby cruby86?? I wanted to quickly update as there is nothing worse than reading a thread that never tells of progress or results etc etc Been for 2 scans now, all seems really well atm, no abnormalities that would show so early on! We have a scan in 2weeks (16w scan) with specialists that spot abnormalities if any so nervous but at the same time sooooo confident that all is well and healthy after the other scans :-) The reason i failed to find ANY info or statistics about woman falling pregnant with partner on the 3 types of medication he is on is because there isnt any!! Apparently according to the 2 consultants we have he is 1 of 14 people! Crazy!! Will keep posted... :-)
