Today is the first day I have had good news for quite some time.
First, and to my surprise, the MRI report from last Thursday evening is back in, and it shows all my liver mets have reduced, with no new lesions formed anywhere in the liver.
Secondly the kidney measures have at last stepped in the right direction and I am now at 1.5 times baseline. They were pleased I had anticipated this and stepped down my prednisolone to 30mg this morning in anticipation. I have also negotiated to have a long weekend away next week so I get blood tests this Thursday and next Tuesday, and a review next Wednesday. Didn’t say I might sneak back to France for the RWC final, for which I have tickets. I would definitely have gone if England were there, but am tempted anyway given I feel a lot better.
My other action has been to start to arrange a private consultation in the local private hospital with the immunotherapy steeped Professor who visited my bedside when I was first in hospital, and who is my consultant’s boss. Given he also runs a practice there I felt this would be the best way of getting quality time, rather than seeking to undermine my consultant within the NHS. I need proper input on my choices based on fact rather than assumption.
I am realistic enough to know that this may be a one swallow doesn’t make a sumner moment, but I think it’s good to have a bit more hope to cling onto. I really hope this little puff of trade wind can carry me back to shore.
